Topic: Decision Making 

           Decision is the action taken in selecting or deciding from two or more alternatives. It is the act of making a choice or making up one's mind from a particular action. When faced with one cause of action, there will be no decision making.

                   Steps In Decision Making 

There are different steps involved in decision making. They include 

I. Identify the decision to be made 

II. List the alternatives 

III. Choose the best alternatives 

IV. Act on your decision 

V. Evaluate your decision.

                Factors that Influence Decision Making 

       The decisions we make are usually influenced by many factors. They include 

I. Family: family members influence your decision by helping in one way or the other.

2. Friends: friends can influence your decision e.g wanting a shoe for your friend.

3. Resources: what you have available can influence your decision. 

4. Values: The decision you make are always based on what is considered important e.g watching a movie or studying your books at night.

5. Needs and Wants: In decision making, needs may be considered before wants. 

                 Types of Decisions 

      There are two types of decision making. They include 

a. Simple Personal Decisions

b. Simple Family Decisions 

a. Simple Personal Decision: This includes making good decisions that can help prevent mistakes in life because some decisions have a greater effect on your life than others do. Some decisions includes 

1. Forming good reading/ study habits 

2. Making a personal decision on the type of university to attend and what to become in life 

3. Decision on how and what to do with your pocket money.

4. Taking decision on the type of grade one wants to have in an examination.

b. Simple Family Decisions: this includes 

1. Making family health matters a priority 

2. Getting ready for work or for school before 7:30am daily. 

3. Securing a good shelter for the family. 

4. Establishing good family morals.
